The AIS Desk Staff LibGuide: This Week at the AIS Desks

Lucky Ducks at Main Library

As mentioned in a recent all-AIS meeting, SLE will be running a finals support program for students called Lucky Ducks (formerly known as Stress ReDUCKtion). This program will run from Wednesday December 3rd through Friday, December 12th (with December 11th - Reading Day - being the day with the most ducks hidden).

AIS will assist SLE by storing the self-care bags in 2nd floor storage. When a patron finds a duck, they will also receive instructions to visit the Main 2nd floor AskUs desk to claim a self-care bag.

A few updates since the all-AIS meeting:

  • CATalyst designed 3D-printed "rubber ducks" for this program (prototype images attached). Given this, patrons will be able to keep the ducks and no longer need to "exchange" them for a self-care bag when they visit the Main 2nd floor AskUs desk.

  • While SLE will cease hiding ducks on Friday, December 12th, the instructions will say patrons can pick-up a self-care bag through Monday, December 15th to account for any lingering ducks.

  • The instructions will also say that self-care bags will be available from 8am to 11pm, Monday through Friday, and only at the Main 2nd floor AskUs desk.

  • SLE will hide a total of 75 ducks and hide them only in the Main Library. If this works well, they will consider WSEL and the SSD for future programs.

  • MarComm is taking some marketing photos of the (final version) ducks and self-care bags and will advertise with digital slides, calendar, etc.

If you have any questions, please let Katie or Scott know and we will inquire with SLE.
