These visual directions have notes for staff to help determine how and if they can help with the room monitors.
Patrons using Group Study Rooms will often want to connect their laptops to the large monitor in the room. They may experience some difficulties and ask for help at the service desk. The link above provides visual directions to help you assist patrons. The directions will also let you know when an issue cannot be fixed and needs a Helpline ticket.
Here's why:
If the monitor shows a blue screen that reads "No Cable Connected", you can take a remote to the room and press the yellow button.
Scan this QR code on your phone to take these directions with you to a Group Study Room.

A paper copy can also be located in the file drawer of the Ask Us Desks.

The Rehearsal Performance Room is located on the 5th floor of WSEL. Only College of Fine Arts (COFA) affiliates can reserve this space.
You must check the key out to the patron in Alma before handing over the key. The key is located in the keybox in WSEL reception storage. The barcode is on the back of the tag.

Please remind COFA patrons to lock the door after use.
The RPR’s purpose is for College of Fine Arts affiliates to play/perform/record music. Priority should be given to those who wish to use the room for those purposes.
We do have music stands, cords, adaptors, and an audio/visual cart (containing turntable, preamplifier, CD player, and headphones) for checkout for use in the Rehearsal Performance Room. These items are library-use only and circulate for a two-hour period. They are located in WSEL reception storage and have barcodes to be scanned.
Family Study Room: WSEL 438
Lactation Rooms: B321, B323, WSEL 419
These rooms are available to parents and caretakers for nursing, pumping, and other childcare activities.
If a patron asks to use one of these rooms, you may give them the code for them to access the room themselves. The codes for these rooms are located in Stache.
You do not need to follow the patron to let them in the room, and it is not necessary for them to prove that they need the space for childcare activities.
If the instructor's station monitor will not turn on, there is a key in the WSEL reception storage lock box to unlock the cabinet below the station. Retrieve the key to turn the monitor on.
If the document camera is not working, restart using the following steps:
Along with completing student tasks, the student employees are responsible for assisting patrons at the WSEL Ask Us desk and will ask AIS staff members to help if needed.
AIS Staff work in the WSEL 209 office. The door should remain open and the room lights should be on (note: the lights can be dimmed)
Staff are still responsible for being aware of customer interactions and should assist if needed
WSEL chat contributors are responsible for being the first to pick up incoming chats. While Main 1st and Main 2nd staff members will also assist with chats, WSEL desk staff should prioritize answering them due to their greater availability.
Staff are responsible for checking in with student employees each hour to ask how things are going and let them know they are available to assist if needed.
If there is no student employee by 12 PM, staff should check in the transit cart from the Main Library. This is a student task, but staff will cover as needed.
We do not currently have a dedicated Media Viewing Space.
WSEL does have a record player cart that patrons can use within the library to listen to records from the music collection.
A/V equipment such as VCRs/ Portable DVD players are available to loan from the Tech Toolshed (1st Floor Ask Us desk at Main)
If a customer would like to arrange for an in-library viewing, please make an Ask Us ticket. The Tech Team will facilitate arrangements.
The NFA Library was previously at the Fine Arts Library and has moved to WSEL.
The UA Libraries sends materials by mail order to NFA members, but you may occasionally get inquiries at the desk about where this library is located. Additional information about the library can be found on the library website here.
If patrons have questions about NFA materials, you can direct them to this email: lbry-asknfa@email.arizona.edu
As of Summer 2025, photocopiers have been removed from Main Library and WSEL.
We still have scanners available at both libraries, which will be replaced with newer models in Fiscal Year 2026.
The nearest photocopiers are at Fast Copy in the Student Union. For black & white copies, they charge $0.15 for single-sided and $0.25 for double-sided; however, they do not take cash.
Pima County Public Library also has photocopiers at many of their branches and they charge $0.10 per copy.
The Staff FAQ has an entry for restarting the Express Check Out Machines
Restarting Express Check Machines

If the phones aren't working as expected, please attempt to power cycle (aka; reset ) the base unit before making a Helpline ticket. Resetting the unit can successfully solve several issues.
Unplug the power cable from the base and plug it back in.
If issues persist after a power cycle, please make a Helpline Ticket.
