Student Responsibilities & Expectations

Working with Student Employees at WSEL

Staff are responsible for checking in with student employees each hour to ask how things are going and let them know they are available to assist if needed.
Staff should ensure tasks on the WSEL student desk tracker are completed each hour. 
If there is no student employee by 12 PM, staff should check in the transit cart from the Main Library. This is a student task, but staff will cover as needed.

Be sure to check the Main Library Desk Trackers for each desk during your shifts to ensure student tasks are being completed.

Student Employees at the Ask Us Desks

A new email queue has been created for operations student management:
opsstudentmanagers@lib.arizona.edu 

The following types of messages should be directed to this queue by both staff and student employees:

  • Time issues
  • Notifying Student Managers if students are running late/will be absent from their shifts
  • General issues
  • Good things

Please still message the Student Managers individually with any sensitive information.

AIS Student Employee Phone and Email List

The contact information on this list can be used to reach out to students when they haven't arrived at their shift after 5-10 minutes (and haven't already notified staff they are running late). 

This information should only be used in a professional context. Please do not use these contacts to reach out to students for any non-work-related matters
