Library Support for Shifting to Online Teaching

Changes to Interlibrary Loan

Due to COVID-19, we're not receiving physical materials borrowed from other libraries. Email us to discuss your academic/curricular needs and how we can help.

If you currently have an interlibrary loan checked out, please keep it until further notice. We're extending loan periods and waiving late fees until further notice. If you receive an overdue notice, email

Learn more about interlibrary loan.

Document Delivery

For UA students, faculty, staff, and designated campus colleagues, document delivery is a free library service that provides digital articles and book chapters.

Library staff are no longer be on site to scan documents. Staff can still help you try to find electronic access to the content you need:

We're no longer mailing print books or other library materials to users due to COVID-19.

For more information, see our Request materials page.

Access to Physical Collections

We're aware of the keen interest in regaining access to physical collections held in the UA Libraries. While we investigate ways to safely allow access to our collections and restart services for paging and borrowing physical materials, you can access the HathiTrust Digital Library to consult digitized versions of over 1 million items in our print collection. If there’s an ebook that you need for teaching, please request a purchase and we'll investigate options.

Special Collections

Staff are available for consultation using digital modes of interaction. If requests can't be fulfilled by digital copies, we'll offer consultation by appointment once it has been determined that it's safe to reopen. We'll prioritize UA students, researchers, instructors, and staff until it's deemed safe to open to the broader community. You're welcome to continue using our online mechanisms for consultation.
