UAL Staff: What's New in Library Search: Primo VE & Rapido

Includes information about new features, changes to library search, and our new Interlibrary loan tool.

How Rapido works

To ensure full access to materials and request options, patrons should log in to their UA Library account before using Library Search.

Placing a Rapido Request through Library Search (Primo):

  • If UA Libraries does not have a resource, Library Search will display the message, “Get it for me from other libraries”.

Library Search Record for a book that is not available from the UA Libraries. Request option is displaying "Get it for me from other libraries"

  • On the item's record page, patrons will see options to request the item through Rapido, along with the expected delivery date. After clicking on “Get it”, the patron will enter their contact information and submit the request.
  • Rapido will automatically generate the request, which will be sent to Resource Sharing via Alma. The request will then be forwarded to Rapido partner libraries that can lend the resource.

Display for options for the patron to borrow this item from another library. Get a physical copy delivered in 7 days and keep for 112 days or Need a chapter? Delivered in 24 hours. Click on "get it" button to place the request.

Placing a request through the Rapido Request Form:

  • Patrons can fill out a Rapido Request form for an item, similar to the current ILLiad request form on the UA Libraries website.

Viewing your Rapido requests:

  • Patrons can log into their UA Library account to view Rapido requests they’ve placed, and the items they have checked out.
  • Previously, patrons had to log into two separate accounts— their UA Library Account and ILLiad. Now, all loans and requests are available in one place.
