TLS 482 - Children's Literature in the Bilingual Classroom

Find titles in Spanish at the U of A Libraries

Search for titles by subject

1.  Using advanced search, you can find a variety of titles using the following subject headings: 

  • Subject:  Spanish literature
  • Subject: Spanish language
  • Subject: Children's stories, Spanish
  • Subject: Juvenile literature + limit to Spanish language using Language filter on the right
  • Subject: Spanish language materials --Bilingual

2.  After the initial search, be sure to filter by Location:  Main Library: Children's Literature on the left side of the screen. Select the green Apply filter button to finish the search.

3.  You can then use the Adjust my results: Sort by filter to sort by title, author, and date

Search by author or title 

You can search directly in library search for an author or a title.  Be sure to filter by Location: Main Library - Children's Literature to find titles in our print collection. You can also limit by Language: Spanish in the lefthand filters. Remember to select the green "Apply filters" button to complete your search.

Additional tips

You will find a wide range of Spanish language children's materials in the Juvenile section PZ73-PZ77. Many other titles are interspersed within the collection, including non-fiction sections, AG - PN.

Resources for finding books in Spanish and other languages

There are different types of resources that you can use for your text set. The first set are databases through the U of A Libraries and the others are links to websites and apps.


 

Book Awards

Every year, a variety of books are chosen for these awards.  Some may be published in Spanish, bilingually, or in English.  Tip for teachers:  buy books in Spanish when you see them, as they often have a limited window of availability.
