Web of Science's Advanced Search allows you to build a search using field tags, Boolean expressions, and set combinations. Select which database collection you would like to search in. Select the search field from the drop-down menu, type in your keyword, then hit "Add to query." Your search string will then appear in the "Query Preview" box. Once you are satisfied with your query, hit "Search." You can also add previous searches to a new search query from the "History" box.
Navigate to the Advanced Search Query Builder by clicking the Advanced Search link on Web of Science's homepage.
All Fields is Web of Science's default search, but you can specify other searchable fields, including:
Enter the term in the search box. Click "Add to query" to add the term to the query box.
When you add more terms, the Advanced Search Query Builder adds the Boolean operator AND between terms by default. Use the dropdown to change the Boolean operator you wish to use when adding the term. For more information on using Boolean operators to combine terms, visit the Search Tools section of this guide.
Remember to select the appropriate search field before adding new terms. For example, selecting Year Published allows you to enter a publication date or date range.
Once you have combined all of your terms using the search builder, click "Search" to run your search in Web of Science.
Your search history will be visible at the bottom of the advanced search page. To view the search results, click the results link. Alternatively, you can edit a previous search directly in the search history box and rerun it.
