The New York Times Online: How to sign up

Who gets access

Available to all UA students, faculty, and staff.

– provided by the UA Library subscription


• Students: Your access runs through Dec. 31st of your graduation year

• Faculty and staff: Renew your access every four years.

What's included

- A free personal account to NYTimes.com

- Access via the web or mobile app (iOS & Android)

- Multimedia content, including podcasts & visualizations

- Teaching and learning content for faculty


Premium apps (games, cooking) are NOT included.

5 PDF article downloads per day, per user.

The UA Library also provides historical access via ProQuest (with no download limits).

Create your free account

New subscribers

To create your free account, visit accessnyt.com. Then type University of Arizona in the Find School box and follow the instructions.

Already registered for New York Times online?

You may want to switch from your personal paid account to a free account provided by UA.

If you have an active paid subscription

You'll need to cancel your personal subscription first. Use their live chat or phone help.

Once your subscription is canceled, you can visit accessnyt.com, type in University of Arizona, and follow the instructions based on your location.

When you're ready to log in, use the same email address and password your used for your previous account. This enables you to keep your personalized settings and newsletters you receive.

Note: Premium apps (Games, Cooking, Wirecutter, etc.) are NOT included in the UA Libraries basic subscription. You may change your personal subscription to only cover one more more of the premium apps.  See The NY Times Products & Subscriptions page for more information.


If you are registered but don't have an active subscription

Visit accessnyt.com, type in University of Arizona, and follow the instructions based on your location.

Since you already have an account, click “Log In" (Found below "Create an Account"), and enter the same email address and the password you used for your previous account. This enables you to keep your personalized settings and newsletters you receive.
