About RefWorks Cancellation

Due to declining budgets and the growing financial burden created by inflationary costs, UA Libraries must continue to make ongoing cancellations to subscription-based materials.  The decision to cancel RefWorks was based on declining usage of the product, coupled with the availability of free and low-cost alternative platforms or tools.

The UA Libraries subscription to RefWorks will end on February 28, 2021. All users who want to keep citations and PDFs stored in RefWorks must transfer them to an alternate citation manager by 02/28/2021.  After this date, UA users’ RefWorks accounts will be permanently inaccessible.

For help and support in migrating your data from RefWorks to Mendeley, Endnote or Zotero there is a brief overview below. .

While certain academic fields may prefer one platform over another, there are three citation managers (EndNote, Mendeley and Zotero) that are endorsed by UA Libraries as effective, low-cost (or free) tools that offer a variety of benefits to their users.
