Hourly Desk Tracker

WSEL Desk Tracker - November 24th

Rehearsal Performance Room

There is now a soundproof Wenger sound isolation room on the 5th floor for College of Fine Arts students, staff, and faculty to practice and record musical instruments. While the room itself has built-in recording capabilities, there is also an in-house use only Portable Recording Studio located at the WSEL 2nd floor Ask Us desk that can be checked out to patrons with a reservation in that space. The room is locked and those with a reservation will need to check out the key to enter.

To access the Performance Rehearsal Room, College of Fine Arts affiliated patrons need to have a reservation. The Performance Rehearsal Room Portable Recording studio is for in-house use only for check out to patrons with a reservation in that space.

On Check-Out:

  • Verify the patron has a reservation in that space using LibCal (in an incognito browser
  • Check out the key to the room and verify checkout length matches reservation length. Remind patrons to lock the door after use.
    • The key is found in the key box in WSEL reception storage (see photos below).
  • If they would like the Portable Recording Studio, music stands, or cords/adapters for in-house use only, check that out to them from the collection in reception storage and edit the hourly loan length to match the reservation length.

On Check-In:

  • Verify the room is locked. Check in the room key and put it back in the key box in WSEL reception storage.
  • Check in and restart the laptop in the Portable Recording Studio. This will not fully reimage it, but it will cycle through Deep Freeze and remove most files

An Audio/Visual Cart (containing turntable, preamplifier, CD player, and headphones) has also been made available (located in reception storage). This does not have to be used exclusively in the Rehearsal Performance Room, but does follow the same two-hour loan policy and is library-use only.

Please verify that an EAF is on file prior to checking this equipment out to patrons.

Only the 5th floor Rehearsal Performance Room is soundproof. No other study space in WSEL is soundproof or designed for music practice. If you receive a noise complaint, inform staff who can suggest alternative places to practice. Please tally and describe any complaints you receive about noise or the rehearsal room in the WSEL LibInsight interaction tally form.
