Navigating Library Search

Use the search bar on the library homepage. After searching, apply filters to narrow by resource type, availability, or date.

Journal articles

  • Filter: Type of material > Articles

  • Check for “Available online” labels to ensure full-text access.

  • D2L linking: Use permalink options to link within D2L.

  • License details: Most licensed journal articles can be shared with unlimited users

ebooks

  • Filter: Type of materials > Books

  • For digital versions: Filter by Available online

  • D2L linking: Adopt ebooks through the Campus Bookstore and then all students can access ebooks; Use permalink options to link within D2L.See the access library licensed course ebooks guide for more information.

  • License details: ebook license details are not included on the landing page; some allow unlimited users, while others have restrictions (e.g., 1-user or 3-user limits). You'll need to click into an ebook directly to learn about its specific restrictions. If you are using an ebook for a course, check for ebook availability before assigning it as course material. Use our course ebook finding tool to see a list of courses using our ebooks and their adopted titles. 

Streaming media

  • Search using keywords + filter: type of material > video recordings

  • Many are from Kanopy, Alexander Street Press, or Swank.

  • D2L linking: Use permalink options to link within D2L

  • License details: Licensing often limits the number of users or requires specific links. If streaming video is included as a course material, complete the request streaming video form every semester. This ensures we purchase the correct license type.
