SLE RISE | Student Training

A guide to all of the basics for Graduate Student Worker (GSW) and Peer Information Counselor (PIC) student workers.

Welcome to the University of Arizona Libraries!

We’re thrilled to have you join us as a student worker. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help your fellow Wildcats access and navigate the library’s wealth of resources. The library can sometimes feel overwhelming, but with your help, we can make it a welcoming and accessible space. Your role is vital in helping students see that the library is not just a big building with books—it’s so much more!

As you embark on this journey, we hope you’ll gain valuable skills that will benefit your own academic career. To get started, please complete the modules on the left-hand side of this page. These modules will introduce you to:

  • Searching various databases
  • Identifying and avoiding plagiarism
  • Using citations
  • Navigating library resources

Beyond mastering library tools, you’ll also engage with modules designed to enhance your ability to work respectfully and effectively with marginalized and underserved student communities here at the University of Arizona. These culturally relevant modules will encourage you to examine implicit biases and deepen your understanding of diverse perspectives.

We selected you as a student worker because of your dedication and enthusiasm for supporting these communities. We’re excited to see the impact you’ll make!
