Library Search for Instructional Designers

Disclaimer - the "Search by DOI" tool launches May 19

Find articles faster with DOI search

If you're working from a reading list for course development, using Library Search's "Search by DOI" tool is the fastest way to locate full-text materials.

If UA Libraries has access to the material, the "Search by DOI" tool will take you straight to the full article.

Benefits ✅

  • Saves time: no need to search by title or author, then sort through multiple records.

  • Avoids errors: you're guaranteed to find the correct materials.

  • Easy for students: EZproxy links work on and off campus.

  • Great for D2L and reading lists.

How to use "Search by DOI" in Library Search

1. Get the DOI

  • If you already have the DOI, you're all set

  • If not, ChatGPT can quickly generate DOIs from a list of articles and authors

2. Navigate to UA Library Search

3. Find "more settings"

  • Click on the three ellipses

4. Select "Search by DOI, PMID"

5. Paste the DOI into the search bar

  • Paste only the DOI (e.g., 10.1080/07350190701738858)

6. Access the material

  • You'll be taken directly to the material if the UA Library has access

  • No need to sort through multiple records

7. Copy the link

  • Once you're on the material's page, copy the link.

  • Make sure the link includes the ezproxy prefix - this ensures seamless access for students (e.g., https://www-jstor-org.ezproxy3.library.arizona.edu/stable/20176824?seq=1)

  • Use our ezproxy tool to add the ezproxy prefix to the URL, making it access from off campus easier.
