Resources from the Public Library and OER
Students will want to work with the librarian to access the print and digital collections there. Public libraries also offer resources to patrons through library card access.
Additionally, some textbooks in the digital libraries below are open access (Open Education Resources), and these books may offer the foundational information students seek when developing their research. Several of the collections below also include standard reference material.
Use these resources to help you find ideas, improve your projects, and see examples from other students.
Science Buddies: Hands-on Science Resources for Home and School
Journal of Emerging Investigators: Features published research by middle school and high school scientists
Standards matter!
You may not even be aware of it, but we use standards every day. In industries from communications and media, to healthcare, construction, energy and more, standards help ensure safety, reliability and environmental care, and contribute to the enhancement of our daily lives. Standards are published documents that establish specifications and procedures designed to ensure the reliability of the materials, products, methods, and/or services people use every day.
Want learn more about Standards? This tutorial will help (we recommend Lessons 1-8).
