Racial Justice Resources for Public Health

Racial Justice Resources for Public Health

This Racial Justice Resource Toolkit is a living document supporting equity and antiracism work of faculty and staff at the Mel & Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health.  It began as a collaboration between the college’s Committee on Inclusion and Equity (CIE) and the Arizona Health Sciences Library public health liaison librarian.  Our aim is to identify and share resources and tools for centering antiracism in the public health academic setting.  Contents can be used to increase awareness and capacity of college faculty and staff to engage in discourse and professional practices that reflect an inclusive climate and values system.

The toolkit also aims to support instructors in creating and enhancing an inclusive syllabus, with resources, trainings, and tools centered on anti-racism, equity, and racial justice.  These can be incorporated into public health courses.

We welcome suggestions for additional resources.

The project was curated by the following public health student interns during Summer 2021-Spring 2022:

  • Lauren Acosta, BS (2021)
  • Daniel Beltran, BS (2021)
  • Eric Correa, BS (2021)
  • Pablo Medina, BS (2021)
  • Elisa Navarro, BS (2022)
  • Crystal Nieves, MPH (2021-2022)
  • Daniel Tarango, BS (2021)

We acknowledge the numerous resource guides centering antiracism and cultural humility in the medical and social work fields.  This guide attempts to center on the multifaceted and cumbersome lens of public health. A good starting point to frame the impact of racism is the American Public Health Association (APHA) Health Equity page.
