GUIDED SEARCH IN LEGISLATIVE INSIGHT

Advantages to using Guided Search:

  • Often the most efficient way to search

Disadvantages to using Guided Search:

  • You may inadvertently exclude a document you want if you search too narrowly
  • To take full advantage of the search features, you must already know a little bit about the history you want to retrieve

Using Guided Search:

  • Search by title, subject/index terms, all words excluding full text, and all words including full text
  • Narrow by publication type and Congress on the left-hand side of the screen
  • Click on the search box next to the Subject/Index Terms drop-down.  A screen will pop up that suggests possible terms and alternatives
