Get started with Zotero

A free tool to collect, manage, cite, and share sources. 

You can:

  • Download Zotero as a Firefox extension or standalone application
  • Use plug-ins for other web browsers, Word, and LibreOffice
  • Sync your Zotero library to view from any computer
  • Use portable Firefox with Zotero on a flash drive to use on any computer

Mendeley is a reference manager, academic collaboration network and crowd sourced database with a unique layer of social information research. Mendeley Desktop is available on Mac, Windows and Linux. Mendeley Web functions on all major browsers. Mobile versions of Mendeley are available for IPadIPhone and Android devices. 

UA Institutional account 

  • 100GB of personal and shared storage
  • Unlimited groups with up to 100 collaborators

Access UA subscription:

  1. Create a new Mendeley account wih your UA email address 
  2.  If you already have an account and did not use your UA email to set up your Mendeley account, go into settings and change your email to use your UA email address.

 What is EndNote ?

  • A web-based program that allows you to store, edit, and manage citations.
  • Citations from many databases may be imported into your online account directly or from saved files of references.
  • Works with Microsoft Word (requires free Cite While You Write plug-in) to allow you to automatically create in-text citations and bibliographies in a choice of publishing styles.
  • Allows online sharing of folders of citations for collaborative projects
  • EndNote is available for purchase for $115 to University of Arizona affiliates. The most current version of EndNote available for purchase through the University of Arizona is X9. To purchase EndNote, contact the University of Arizona Bookstore Licensing Department
