Student Worker Circulation Guide

This guide is meant to provide basic direction and relevant information for student workers in the Law Library working the circulation desk.

Phone Calls at the Circulation Desk

When answering the phone, please start the phone call with a welcome, such as "This is the UA Law Library, how may I help you?" or "Thank you for calling the Daniel F. Cracchiolo Law library, how may I help you?". Keep it welcoming, but short.

There maybe time when you will have to walk away from the circulation desk to help a patron, use the bathroom, or shelve some books. When you are the only person at the circulation desk or in the library, its important that we still receive and answer phone calls. During these times, you can forward the phone to your personal cell phone when you are away from the desk. To do this, click the "TRANSFER" button on the phone, then type in your full phone number. Phone calls will now go to your personal phone. To turn off forwarding, just press that button again to disengage it. PLEASE NOTE: this will not work with phones that do not have a local area code.
