The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) is dedicated to the improvement and expansion of the teaching and learning of all languages at all levels of instruction. ACTFL is an individual membership organization of more than 12,500 language educators and administrators from elementary through graduate education, as well as government and industry.
The American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL) is a professional organization of scholars worldwide who are interested in and actively contribute to the multi-disciplinary field of applied linguistics. AAAL members promote principled approaches to language-related concerns, including language education, acquisition and loss, bilingualism, discourse analysis, literacy, rhetoric and stylistics, language for special purposes, psycholinguistics, second and foreign language pedagogy, language assessment, and language policy and planning.
CALICO Journal is the official publication of the
Computer Assisted Language Instruction Consortium
(CALICO) and is devoted to the dissemination of
information concerning the application of technology
to language teaching and language learning.
ELT Journal is a quarterly publication for all those
involved in English Language Teaching (ELT),
whether as a second, additional, or foreign language,
or as an international Lingua Franca. The Journal links
the everyday concerns of practitioners with insights
gained from relevant academic disciplines such as applied
linguistics, education, psychology, and sociology.
The journal seeks to serve the professional interests of
classroom instructors, researchers, and administrators
across a range of contexts and is dedicated to the
advancement of the teaching and learning of foreign

It is published four times per year.
The L2 Journal is a fully refereed, interdisciplinary
journal which aims to promote the research and the
practice of language learning and teaching. It publishes
articles in English on all aspects of applied linguistics
broadly conceived, i.e., second language acquisition,
second language pedagogy, bilingualism and multilingualism,
language and technology, curriculum development and teacher
training, testing and evaluation.
Language Teaching Research is a peer-reviewed journal
that publishes research within the area of second or foreign
language teaching. The journal is a venue for studies that
demonstrate sound research methods and which report findings that have clear pedagogical implications.
PROFILE is a publication mainly concerned with
sharing the results of classroom research projects,
reflections and innovations undertaken by teachers
of English as a second or foreign language as well
as by teacher educators and novice teacher-researchers.
RTE is a broad-based, multidisciplinary journal composed of
original research articles and short scholarly essays on a wide
range of topics significant to those concerned with the teaching
and learning of languages and literacies around the world, both
in and beyond schools and universities.
TESOL Quarterly (TQ), a refereed professional journal,
fosters inquiry into English language teaching and learning
by providing a forum for TESOL professionals to share their
research findings and explore ideas and relationships in the field.
Provides specific ideas and strategies, such as tips for planning lessons and the use of language objectives, as well as broader approaches such as using informal assessment and differentiation for varying language levels.
