What is a literature review?

A literature review provides an overview of the scholarly writings published on a topic by scholars and researchers. Literature reviews should:

  • be organized around specific topic
  • synthesize results into summary
  • identify areas of controversy
  • formulate questions for further research

You can organize your literature review by chronology, theme, or methodology.
